英文品名：A WHITE JADE EIGHTEEN-BEAD PRAYER BRACELET, QING DYNASTY 尺寸：Beads: D:1.78cm / Finial bead: D:2cm 此手持由十八粒白玉圓珠串成，每珠浮雕絡子結紋，玲瓏剔透，玉質瑩白細潤。佛頭二粒為紅色碧璽質地，光瑩可人。背雲鏤雕福字蝙蝠紋，下垂兩枚紅色碧璽墜角，鑲金屬寶蓋。隔珠三粒呈蜜蠟黃色。整串配色雅緻，工料俱精，為清代后妃文玩之器。「十八子」又稱十八粒手持，本於佛教念珠之制，據《木槵子經》，念珠百八顆以斷百八煩惱，而十八子取十八界（六根、六塵、六識）之義，便於盤捻持誦。清代后妃、命婦於禮佛、誦經之餘，亦於手腕持捻，兼作腕飾。其制必有佛頭（三間珠）、背雲、墜角、隔珠，配色以玉、碧璽、蜜蠟、沉香相襯，為宮廷文玩。 This eighteen-bead prayer bracelet is strung with white jade beads each carved in openwork with interlocking knot patterns, the stone luminous and finely textured. Two ruby-red tourmaline master beads and a matching back-plaque carved with bat and fortune character suspend two teardrop tourmaline pendants capped in gilt metal. Three honey-colored spacer beads complete the elegant ensemble, a refined example of Qing-dynasty personal ornament. The eighteen-bead hand ring derives from Buddhist prayer beads. The full 108 beads subdue 108 afflictions; the eighteen take their number from the eighteen realms (six sense organs, six objects, six consciousnesses), convenient to roll between the fingers. Qing empresses, consorts and titled ladies used them both in devotion and as a wrist ornament. They must include master beads, a back plaque and pendants, with jade, tourmaline, amber and agarwood arranged in elegant combinations as court curios.
