英文品名：A QING ROCK CRYSTAL CARVING OF A STANDING LADY 尺寸：W:11cm;H:23cm 水晶雕。仕女立像，高髻長裙，衣褶流暢，身側鏤雕樹石、花鳥，紋樣繁複。水晶瑩白通透，內含少量棉絮與雜質，雕工玲瓏，鏤空處層次分明。為清代水晶類象生擺件。水晶化學成分二氧化矽，莫氏硬度七，較玉石更硬，琢器全賴解玉砂（金剛砂）以水琢磨，不能以刻刀直接雕刻。因晶瑩透明，稍有暇疵即顯，故開料須選淨棉少者。鏤空部分如樹石、花鳥，須以管鑽深入，再以搜弓鋸絲掏膛，稍有不慎即崩裂。清代水晶器多出自蘇州、廣州玉作，因硬度高、琢磨慢，成器比同尺寸玉器工時更長。 A rock crystal carving of a standing lady. She is shown with a high bun and long skirt, the robe folds smooth; trees, rocks, flowers and birds are pierced beside her in intricate openwork. The crystal is clear and white, with minor natural veining, the carving delicate and layered. Rock crystal is silica, Mohs seven, harder than jade, so it can only be shaped with diamond abrasive in water; steel tools cannot cut it directly. Because it is transparent, any internal veining shows at once, so blanks are chosen for clarity. Openwork, trees, rocks, birds and flowers, requires tubular drilling followed by piercing with a fine saw bow, and a slip cracks the piece. Qing crystal carvings came largely from Suzhou and Canton jade workshops; the hardness made them slower to finish than comparable jade, raising the labour cost per piece.
