清 竹雕仕女圖臂擱“西厓”款

英文品名：A BAMBOO WRISTREST CARVED WITH A LADY AT A WINDOW, SIGNED XI YA, QING DYNASTY 尺寸：L:18cm 此臂擱為老竹雕成，長條半圓筒形。正面淺浮雕仕女圖：一仕女憑欄而坐，手持團扇，旁襯湖石芭蕉。右上陰刻行書「癸亥三月 西厓刻」並鈐印。竹色紅潤，包漿瑩亮。為清代竹雕文房臂擱。西厓，清代竹刻名家，姓名待考，善刻仕女、山水，刀法簡遠。癸亥為年款，或為嘉慶八年（1803）、或為同治二年（1863）。仕女憑欄圖，取「倚欄望春」「秋閨秋思」之意，為明清竹刻常見題材。 This old bamboo wristrest is long and half-cylindrical. The face is lightly carved with a lady leaning on a balustrade holding a round fan, garden rocks and banana leaves behind. The upper right is incised in running script 'Carved by Xi Ya, third month, Guihai year' with a seal. The bamboo is reddish and lustrous. It is a Qing bamboo wristrest. Xi Ya was a noted Qing bamboo carver (personal name to be confirmed) skilled in ladies and landscapes, with a spare, distant manner. Guihai may correspond to 1803 or 1863. The lady-at-the-balustrade theme, evoking spring gazing or autumn longing in the chamber, was common in Ming-Qing bamboo carving.
