英文品名：A QING BAMBOO-ROOT TEAPOT IN THE FORM OF A TREE STUMP 尺寸：H:10cm 竹根雕。茶壺就竹根隨形鏤成，壺身扁圓，作老樹樁狀，滿雕節癤疤痕。流與把皆作枝幹屈曲形，壺鈕雕作橫枝小幹，上附小枝。竹色淺黃褐，包漿古樸，為清代文房茶事清玩。竹根雕始於明代嘉定，與竹雕筆筒同派。其法取年久竹根，根盤糾結，癤節遍布，匠人因其自然形勢，雕為樹樁、土豆、諸式。茶壺雖成形，流、把、鈕皆肖樹枝，不施彩繪，全賴竹質本色與刀痕見巧。清代茶事極盛，紫砂、錫、竹根皆作壺，置於茶席，兼作清供。 A bamboo-root teapot carved to follow a natural root form. The squat, rounded body is shaped as an old tree stump covered with knots and scars; the spout and handle are modelled as twisting branches, and the lid knob as a small bough. The bamboo is a pale yellow-brown with an archaic patina. A Qing tea-ceremony object. Bamboo-root carving began in Ming Jiading, alongside brush-pot carving. The method takes aged bamboo roots with tangled knobs and follows their natural form to shape stumps, gourds or figures. Though functional as a teapot, the spout, handle and knob all mimic branches; no paint is used, the effect relying on bamboo tone and knife work. Tea culture flourished in the Qing; teapots of zisha clay, tin and bamboo root all graced the tea table as objects of contemplation.
