清 紫檀整挖梅花紋香盤

英文品名：A ZITAN TRAY CARVED IN THE ROUND WITH PLUM BLOSSOM BRANCHES 尺寸：W:39.5cm;H:7.5cm 紫檀木。香盤為整木挖出，作海棠式隨形盤，盤內光素。盤沿一週高浮雕梅花枝：老幹縱橫，枝椏斜出，花朵或盛開或含苞，花蕊以細刻點出，花苞繁密。木色紫黑瑩潤，包漿溫厚，雕工圓轉生動。為清代紫檀整挖香盤。香盤為文人香事用具，置於書案，上承香篆、香餅或小香盒。清代士人講求「隔火薰香」：先以香灰鋪平，埋炭餅於中，再隔銀片放香丸，香盤即用以承灰、清理香屑。紫檀整木挖成不裂不翹，邊雕梅花，兼作書齋清供。 A zitan tray carved from a single block, shaped as an irregular lobed dish with a smooth interior. The rim is carved in high relief with old plum branches: gnarled trunks spread outward, twigs angling off, flowers fully open or in bud, stamens finely incised, buds clustered. The wood is deep purple-black and mellow, the carving rounded and lively, a Qing zitan incense tray. An incense tray, or xiangpan, was used on the scholar's desk in the refined practice of incense. A bed of incense ash was smoothed out, a charcoal cake buried within, and a slice of mica or silver placed over the ember before the incense paste; the tray caught the ash and held the small utensils. Carved from a single block of zitan, resistant to splitting, the plum-blossom rim turned a functional piece into a studio object of taste.
