A ZITAN CURIOS CABINET INLAID WITH CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL PANELS BEARING THE CHARACTER DAJI, QING DYNASTY This zitan curios cabinet is in two stages: three glass doors above lined with yellow silk, two glass doors in the middle, and two doors with two drawers below. The doors and drawer fronts are set with cloisonné enamel panels on blue wire, painted with the Eight Auspicious Symbols, scrolling lotus and the large characters Daji (great good fortune). Brass mounts and key-fret horseshoe feet complete it. It is a Qing court curios cabinet. Curios cabinets (duobaogui) stored antiques, curios and small albums in the Qing palace, divided into cells with glass or enamel doors for display without dust. The characters Daji (great good fortune) are the most auspicious phrase in the Book of Changes; Qing cabinets, panels and porcelain often bore Daji or Daji yang, an ancient form, as a blessing.
