英文品名：A ZITAN BRUSH POT CARVED WITH RUYI CLOUDS, THE BASE BEARING AN INCISING QIANLONG BINGYIN MARK, QING DYNASTY 尺寸：D:17cm;H:17cm 此筆筒以紫檀整料挖成，作圓筒形，通體滿雕如意雲紋，雲頭飽滿圓潤，層層疊壓。口沿及足牆各飾回紋窄邊一週。器底陰刻「大清乾隆 丙寅年」款，下鈐篆印一方。木質細膩深沉，包漿瑩潤，雕工圓熟流暢，為清代紫檀文房典型器。筆筒置於書案右側，用以插毛筆，為文房首見之器。明代中葉以後，竹、木、瓷、銅、玉石筆筒並興，而紫檀以木性溫潤、經久不裂為世所重。筆筒不僅實用，亦供清賞：壁面所雕雲紋、山水、花鳥，於臨池之餘對目怡神。清代乾隆朝好以紫檀作漢玉、漢銅器式，底鐫年款，作為文房御覽之物。 This cylindrical zitan brush pot is carved all over with plump ruyi-cloud patterns, framed by key-fret borders at the rim and foot. The base bears an incised inscription 'Da Qing Qianlong, Bingyin year' with a seal. The dense wood has a lustrous dark patina and the carving is fluid and mature, representing a classic Qing zitan desk object. The brush pot stands at the right of the desk to hold writing brushes, a primary studio object. From the mid-Ming, bamboo, wood, porcelain, bronze and stone examples flourished; zitan was prized for its warm, stable grain. Beyond its use, the pot was admired as a small sculpture—the clouds, landscapes or flowers carved on its wall offered repose between bouts of writing. The Qianlong court favoured zitan pieces taking Han jades and bronzes for their forms, often dated on the base as imperial desk ware.
