英文品名：A ZITAN WOOD BRUSH POT CARVED WITH PLUM BLOSSOM 尺寸：D:11.5cm;H:15cm 紫檀木雕。筆筒隨樹根之勢，作不規則圓筒，外壁起伏凹凸，浮雕透雕梅花枝幹，老幹虬曲，花苞點綴。木色紫黑沉鬱，包漿瑩潤，口沿隨形。為清代文房重器。紫檀木質堅重，色紫黑，紋理細膩，入水即沉，為明清硬木中之名品。紫檀筆筒多取天然根形，不事修削，就木勢雕花枝，所謂隨形。梅為四君子之首，文人案頭置紫檀梅筒，取傲雪凌寒之意。 A zitan wood brush pot following the irregular form of a tree root: the uneven exterior is carved in relief and openwork with twisting plum branches and scattered buds. The wood is a deep purple-black with lustrous patina, the rim left to the natural contour. Zitan is dense, heavy and purple-black, sinking in water, a prized hardwood of the Ming-Qing. Its brush pots often take natural root shapes, leaving the wood's own contour and carving flowering branches into it, the so-called following the form. Plum, foremost of the Four Gentlemen, on a desk pot evokes endurance in cold.
