清 紫檀木雕雲龍紋方印匣連座

英文品名：A ZITAN SQUARE SEAL BOX ON A STAND, CARVED WITH DRAGONS AMONG CLOUDS 尺寸：L:14cm;H:21cm 紫檀木雕。方形印匣，連座高起，匣身四面浮雕雲龍紋，一龍穿行於祥雲海水之間，邊框起回紋欞。下配須彌座式几座，牙板飾卷草紋，腿足內翻。木色紫黑，雕工精嚴。印匣用以珍藏官印、收藏印章或貯存重要文書。清代宮廷、衙署多用紫檀方匣，取木色沉穆、不蟲不蛀。匣面雕雲龍紋，龍為帝王之象，示所貯之重；連座陳設，置於文房案頭，既實用又具威儀。 A zitan square seal box on a fitted stand. All four sides are carved in relief with a dragon winding among clouds and waves, framed by key-fret borders. The stand has a recessed-leg base with scrolling aprons and inward-curving feet. The purple-black wood is crisply carved. Seal boxes stored official seals, private chops or important documents. Qing courts and yamen favoured zitan square cases for its sombre, worm-proof nature; the dragon-among-clouds carving, an imperial emblem, signalled the weight of what was kept inside. Displayed on its stand on a desk, the box served both use and dignity.
