英文品名:A BRONZE RECUMBENT OX 尺寸:L:36cm;H:17cm 銅鑄。 A bronze recumbent ox lying with folded legs, head turned to glance backward, curved horns and ears laid flat, tail curled upward, a silver ring through the nose. The muscular body is smooth, hair suggested by faint incised lines; the black patina glows, with brown-red undertones along the spine. The pose is gentle yet powerful. Laozi is said to have ridden a blue ox through the Hangu Pass, writing the Dao De Jing at the request of the guardian Yin Xi before departing westward. The blue ox thus became tied to Daoist stillness, and a reclining ox evokes patient, unhurried strength. Literati kept bronze oxen on desks as a wish for steady, untiring progress.
