清 銅海水瑞獸紋鏤空龍鈕方薰爐

英文品名：A QING BRONZE SQUARE OPENWORK INCENSE BURNER WITH DRAGON FINIAL AND SEA-BEAST DESIGN 尺寸：H:17cm 銅鑄。方形薰爐，鏤空蓋，蓋面滿雕雲龍紋，龍身盤繞祥雲，蓋頂飾龍鈕。爐身四面浮雕海水、瑞獸，波濤翻卷，瑞獸出沒其間。兩側飾鋪首銜環。下承束腰方座。皮色古銅帶青鏽，為清代香具。鏤空薰爐須先鑄出實胎，再以刻刀、鋸條將紋樣間不需保留的部分掏去，謂拔鏤工藝。方形器身四範對合，範線多在稜角；鏤空蓋須單獨鑄出，與子口咬合。海水瑞獸紋取海八怪（海馬、海獅、鯤魚等）出沒波濤之意，明代宣德銅爐已開此題，清代沿用作宮中書齋薰衣、燻被之具。 A square bronze openwork censer. The cover is pierced with dragons amid clouds, a dragon knob at the apex. The sides are cast in relief with sea waves and auspicious beasts among curling billows. Beast-head handles with loose rings project from two sides. The vessel stands on a waisted square base. The patina is antique bronze with green. An openwork censer is first cast solid, then unwanted areas are cut or sawn away with fine blades, a chasing-and-piercing technique. The square body is assembled from four moulds, with parting lines usually at the corners; the pierced cover is cast separately to fit a fitted rim. The sea-beast design, mythical marine creatures amid billows, began on Xuande-period censers and continued in the Qing for smoking clothes and bedding in studies and chambers.
