清 銅鎏金花卉紋長方爐

英文品名：A GILT-BRONZE RECTANGULAR CENSER WITH FLORAL MEDALLIONS AND ELEPHANT HANDLES, QING DYNASTY 尺寸：L:35.5cm;W:23cm 此爐為銅鑄，作長方形：寬平沿，直壁，下承四獸足，兩側出象首鼻形耳。器壁滿飾錦地回紋，一面高浮雕加鎏金石榴、折枝花果紋，另面浮雕夔龍紋，金色凸起於褐銅地子，對比鮮明。銅皮古厚，鎏金溫潤。為清代銅鎏金長方爐。長方爐配如意耳、獸足，為明代銅爐常見式，清代沿襲而更趨華麗。象首鼻耳取「太平有象」之吉意；獸足取威鎮辟邪之意。花果紋——石榴多子、牡丹富貴、靈芝延年——組合於一器，象徵多子多福。此爐金銅相映，浮雕深峻，為清宮陳設爐。 This rectangular bronze censer has a flat rim, straight sides, four beast feet, and elephant-trunk handles on the long sides. The walls are covered with a key-fret brocade ground; one side is relief-carved and gilded with pomegranate and flowering sprays, the other with kui dragons, the gilding rising against the bronze. The patina is ancient and the gilding mellow. It is a Qing gilt-bronze rectangular censer. Rectangular censers with ruyi handles and beast feet were a common Ming form, continued and enriched by the Qing. Elephant-head handles allude to peace under the elephant; beast feet ward off evil. Pomegranate (many sons), peony (wealth) and lingzhi (longevity) together wish for abundant blessing. Here gold and bronze contrast in deep relief, a court-level display censer.
