清 銅鏤空四方塔式瑞獸鈕熏爐“大明宣德”款

英文品名：A QING BRONZE SQUARE PAGODA-FORM INCENSE BURNER WITH BEAST FINIAL, BEARING A "DA MING XUANDE" SEAL MARK 尺寸：H:50cm 銅鑄。熏爐作四方塔式，分三層：下為鏤空卷草紋方座，中為四直足方爐身，雙面出獸首銜環耳，上為鏤空雲龍紋爐蓋，蓋頂蹲瑞獸鈕。口沿設朝冠一對，器底中心起方印款「大明宣德」。銅色褐潤，皮殼古樸，為清代陳設熏爐。熏爐用以焚香，置於廳堂書齋，香氣自鏤空蓋孔透出。塔式熏爐取上古青銅鼎、爐形制，分層疊架，陳設氣勢宏大。瑞獸鈕取鎮壓之意，朝冠耳取廟堂之製。此式為清代官宦之家供於佛堂或陳於條案，兼作燃香與裝飾。 A bronze square pagoda-form incense burner in three tiers: a pierced scrolling-grass square base, a square body on four straight legs with animal-mask ring handles, and a pierced cloud-and-dragon lid surmounted by a seated beast finial. Flanged upright ears rise at the rim; the base centre bears a square seal reading Da Ming Xuande. The bronze is warm brown with an archaic patina. A Qing altar burner. Incense burners held burning incense in halls and studios, the scent escaping through pierced lids. The pagoda form evokes ancient bronze ding and li vessels, stacked in tiers for imposing display. The beast finial has an apotropaic meaning, and the flanged ears follow temple prototypes. Such burners stood in family shrines or on hall tables, both for incense and for ornament.
