清 銅菊瓣直棱紋缽式爐

英文品名：A BRONZE BOWL-FORM CENSER WITH CHRYSANTHEMUM-PETAL RIBBING 尺寸：D:13cm;H:8cm 銅鑄。缽式香爐，侈口折沿，鼓腹斂收，下承圈足。頸下飾一周交錢如意紋帶，腹身滿刻豎向直棱紋，作菊瓣瓜棱狀。銅皮深褐近黑，包漿沉古，為清代文房陳設之香具。缽式爐又稱缽爐，器形源自佛門銅缽，敞口淺腹，置於香几、案頭，焚點線香或餅香。明清以來，書齋、佛堂皆用此式爐，器形大小適中，壁厚穩重。直棱紋一作菊瓣紋，取意佛前供具之清肅端凝。 A bronze bowl-form censer with a flared rim, rounded sides and a ring foot. Below the neck is a band of interlocking coin-and-ruyi pattern; the body is covered with vertical ribbing in imitation of chrysanthemum petals. The patina is a deep brown-black with an old mellow surface. Bowl-form censers derive their shape from Buddhist alms bowls; with a broad mouth and shallow body they were set on a desk stand or altar table for burning sticks or compressed incense. From the Ming-Qing period this modest, heavy-walled type was used both in studios and family chapels; the vertical ribbing evokes the solemnity of a liturgical vessel.
