清 銅阿拉伯文小爐“大清乾隆年製”款

英文品名：A SMALL BRONZE CENSER WITH ARABIC INSCRIPTION, BEARING A SIX-CHARACTER QIANLONG MARK 尺寸：D:8cm;H:6cm 銅鑄。小爐斂口鼓腹，矮圈足，器身扁圓。腹前開海棠式開光，開光內鐫阿拉伯文一行，字體渾厚，地子作細密珍珠錘紋，器底中心鑄六字篆書「大清乾隆年製」方印款。銅皮棗紅瑩潤，皮殼古樸。明清之際，鑄造帶阿拉伯文銅爐之風盛行，多見於信仰伊斯蘭教之家或宮廷鑄物。爐身開光內鐫可蘭經句，字間以錘揲紋地襯托，既為焚香之具，亦示宗教誠敬。此件器形小巧，可置掌心，為文人書齋清供。 A small bronze censer of compressed globular body with a short neck and a low ring foot. On one side, a lobed cartouche encloses a line of Arabic script incised on a finely hammered dotted ground; the base centre bears a six-character seal-script cast mark, Da Qing Qianlong nianzhi. The copper-brown patina is warm and mellow. Bronze censers bearing Arabic inscriptions were popular from the Ming through the Qing, made for Muslim households or as court commissions. The cartouche usually quotes a verse from the Quran, its script set off by a hammered ground; the vessel served as an incense burner while signalling piety. This small example fits in the palm and was a studio desk object.
