明 銅龍首銜環耳壺

英文品名：A MING BRONZE HU VASE WITH DRAGON-HEAD RING HANDLES 尺寸：D:9cm;H:31cm 銅鑄。壺作小口長頸，碩腹斂足，兩肩出龍首銜環耳。頸部飾弦紋，腹上部出帶狀箍，飾圓鼓釘。通體黑亮皮殼，局部隱現褐斑，器形挺拔端穩。銅壺碩腹斂足，長頸兩肩對稱出龍首銜環耳，威儀在目。投壺為古代宴飲雅戲，賓主以矢投壺口，勝者酌負者飲，文人雅集每以銅壺佐興；此式壺亦可插花貯水，置於書齋條案。黑亮皮殼經年摩挲而成，沉穆古雅。 A bronze hu vase with a narrow long neck, full rounded body and splayed foot; dragon-head ring handles rise at either shoulder. The neck has string mouldings, and a band with raised bosses encircles the upper body. The whole has a black lustrous patina with brown flecks, the form upright and steady. The hu vase's full belly and splayed foot are framed by paired dragon-head ring handles at the shoulders, stately and balanced. The touhu was an ancient banquet pastime in which guests shot arrows into the vase mouth, the loser drinking; literati gatherings often set such a bronze vase beside the wine. It also held water or a flowering branch on the studio table. The black lustrous patina comes from years of handling, sober and elegant.
