A QING BRONZE VASE WITH RELIEF SCROLLING DRAGONS AND ELEPHANT-HEAD RING HANDLES 尺寸:D:11cm;H:26cm 銅鑄。 A bronze vase with flared mouth, narrow neck, full body and splayed foot. Elephant-head ring handles rise at the shoulder. The neck is relief-carved with a mask; a reserved panel on the body shows a scrolling dragon, and a row of bosses runs below the rim. The bronze is deep brown and lustrous. A Qing bronze vase. Bronze vases stood on hall tables for flower arrangement or display. Qing vases commonly had elephant or dragon-head handles and relief dragon-phoenix motifs for a rich air. Elephant handles mean peace has an elephant; paired with dragons they convey a prosperous age. The sober patina marks this as a Qing display bronze.
