清 銅螭龍紋蒜頭瓶

英文品名：A BRONZE GARLIC-HEAD VASE WITH A RELIEF CHI-DRAGON 尺寸：H:24cm 銅鑄。蒜頭式瓶，口作蒜頭狀束斂，長頸溜肩，碩腹下垂，圈足。頸間高浮雕一螭龍，與器體一體鑄成，龍身盤繞，首探出，鱗爪淺刻。銅皮褐黑斑斕，包漿沉古，器形優美。蒜頭瓶因瓶口凸起如蒜頭而名，宋代已有瓷質，清代銅瓶多作文房花器，插梅、供石。此件頸間盤螭，螭為無角之龍，取陽剛辟邪之意；銅色沉穆，與書卷相映。 A bronze garlic-head vase with a swollen garlic-shaped mouth, long neck, sloping shoulders, swollen body and ring foot. Cast integrally in relief on the neck is a coiled chi-dragon with raised head and incised scales and claws. The patina is mottled brown-black and mellow, the silhouette elegant. The garlic-head vase takes its name from the bulbous mouth; ceramic examples date to the Song, and Qing bronze versions served as studio flower vases for plum blossom or scholar's rocks. The hornless chi-dragon on the neck carries vigour and warding-off, while the sombre bronze tone complements books and scrolls.
