英文品名：A BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF THE CROWNED MAITREYA, MING DYNASTY 尺寸：L:23cm;W:14cm;H:29cm 此像為銅鑄，彌勒菩薩遊戲坐式，頭戴鏤花寶冠，大腹便便，滿面春風，笑意可掬。身着寬袖袈裟，手持念珠，衣紋流暢。銅皮黑亮溫潤，包漿古厚。中空內膛。為明代銅彌勒像。彌勒，譯意慈氏，為未來佛，當於釋迦滅度後五億七千萬歲降生人世，成佛說法。佛像中彌勒有二種：一為天冠彌勒，菩薩裝，戴寶冠、倚坐，現於唐以前石窟；一為大肚彌勒，實則五代時奉化契此和尚（布袋和尚），圓寂後傳為彌勒化身，大腹笑口，宋元以降民間廣奉。此像戴冠而大腹，即天冠彌勒與布袋和尚融合之像。 This bronze Maitreya sits in royal ease, wearing an openwork jewelled crown, with a full belly and a broad smile. He wears wide-sleeved monastic robes and holds a rosary, the drapery flowing. The bronze is black and lustrous, hollow-cast. It is a Ming bronze Maitreya. Maitreya (the Loving One) is the Buddha of the future, to appear on earth after Sakyamuni's passing. Images fall into two types: the crowned bodhisattva Maitreya, enthroned, common before the Tang; and the big-bellied Budai, derived from the Five-Dynasty monk Qici of Fenghua, recognized as Maitreya's incarnation, widely venerated from Song-Yuan. This crowned, big-bellied figure fuses the two traditions.
