明 銅自在觀音坐像

英文品名：A BRONZE FIGURE OF GUANYIN IN ROYAL EASE, MING DYNASTY 尺寸：H:19cm 銅鑄。觀音菩薩自在坐式，一腿屈起，一足垂踏，首微低，目俯視，頭披兜帽，胸懸瓔珞，手持經卷，衣紋垂暢，衣緣披覆於台座。銅皮深褐瑩潤，面相溫婉靜穆，為明代佛堂供奉之像。此像安置於家堂佛龕或書齋，朔望焚香頂禮。自在觀音又稱飄然觀音，不作結跏趺正坐，而以舒適之態臨凡間，象徵菩薩慈視眾生、隨緣救度。明代士庶家供此一尊，祈闔家平安。 A bronze figure of Guanyin in royal ease: one knee raised, one foot lowered, head slightly bowed with downcast eyes, hooded crown, jewelled necklace, holding a scroll, robes falling in soft folds over the rocky base. The dark brown patina is mellow, the countenance gentle and serene. Such images were enshrined in family chapels or studios and honoured with incense on the first and fifteenth of each lunar month. The at-ease Guanyin rejects the formal lotus posture for a relaxed, worldly stance, symbolizing compassion toward all beings; Ming households kept one to pray for family peace.
